This program, best for third-fifth graders, explores music history, different genres (blues, folk, old country, rock, musicals, punk) and scrutinizes the songwriting process. What is a chorus? What is a verse? Can they have the same melody? Do they have to rhyme? Choosing one genre to focus on, Miss Lynn will guide them in writing their own song in that genre. They vote on an emotional point of view and a subject, and write the lyrics together. Miss Lynn will play guitar as the musical accompaniment, based on what kind of song they have chosen to write. Current curriculum can be used as a song subject to help integrate what they are learning. In an hour or less, we will have a completed song.
Offered as a 6-8-week after-school program, or a classroom workshop.
Miss Lynn is also available for school performances.

"My kiddos had a blast! They really enjoyed the fact that the song was completely THEIR song. They chose the topic as a group and all of the words, with Lynn's expertise in the style and beat! It was a great activity to bring the kids together to work on something as a group and allowed them to create something fun! Thank you, Lynn!" --V.C. Pittsfield, MA elementary school instructor
